
Hear the talk: The Rice Design Alliance (RDA) kicks off this year's annual architecture tour today with an illustrated lecture from distinguished photographer Richard Cheek, nationally recognized for his landscape and architectural photography. Adding to an already long list of accolades, Mr. Cheek was most recently published in Houston's newest architectural compendium, The Country Huseses of John F. Staub (Texas A&M University Press), penned by our very own Stephen Fox (reviewed previously by the Houstonist here). Don't forget to bring your copy for the pre-lecture book signing with both Mr. Cheek and Mr. Fox.

When: Wednesday, March 19, 7pm Pre-lecture book signing and wine reception, 8pm lecture.
Where: The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
The lecture is complimentary with purchase of an RDA architecture tour ticket.

See the Houses: This year's RDA architecture tour will feature six houses by Houston's most famous architect to the rich and richer, John F. Staub. The tour is open only to RDA members and guests. RDA Memberships beginning at $45 can be purchased in advance at the RDA office or at select houses on the tour and include a complimentary tour ticket (Household level and higher include two complimentary tickets).

3. 1305 South Boulevard
C. Milby Dow House (1926-27)
4. 3 Remington Lane

Tom Scurry House (1936-37)
Tickets to tour all houses are $25; $15 for students; senior citizens (65 years and older).
All tours will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 29 and 30, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. each day. So, put on your bonnets, derbies, and pretend it's 1945.
