The first ever Houston Green Expo, Sustainable Energy and Green Building Consumer Event will be held this Saturday and Sunday April 5 - 6, 2008, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at Reliant Park, in hall B.

What's that you say?! A green-tech expo in Houston! No Way! We know, we're absolutely crazy about it too! The all day event is Free and open to the public. Think of the event as a new-age sustainable World's Fair. Reliant Park will be filled with manufacturers, producers, and retailers of green and sustainable materials. That means this is your best chance to get brought up to speed on the most au-currant healthy life-style products.

Take the light rail and save the 8$ parking fee! And if the light rail doesn't suit your fancy you can do your part to cut down on gas emissions by scheduling a ride share at GreenRide, a web-based, easy to use rideshare program.

Our Mayor Bill White will give an opening address on Saturday at 10am followed by David Freeman who will discuss energy independence and Joe Romm who will discuss climate change.

You know the Houstonist will be there!

Leading sponsors include: Walmart, Sam's Club, Comcast. Other sponsors include: BP Americas, CenterPoint Energy, ConocoPhillips, Continental Airlines, KBR, Reliant, Shell, Valero and WasteManagement.
