Westheimer Block Party takes over the 77006

2008-04-03_2008wbp.jpgWe forewarned you a couple of weeks ago.

We gave you another heads up a few days ago.

With less than 24 hours left, you had better made up your mind about whether or not you’re going to the The Free Press' Westheimer Block Party.

The last one was pretty much a rousing success with a blown out generator being the only exception. This year, though, the Free Press has upped the ante by bringing not one but two national acts, one of which has had a place in the hearts of many for a few years and the other on the cusp of blog-reading-hipsters levels of success.

Both And you will know us by the Trail of Dead and HEALTH headline the Block Party’s musical finale at Numbers Nightclub, along with local favorites Spain Colored Orange, By the end of tonight and Young Mammals, for a pittance ($10 to be exact.)

However, If your budget can’t handle forking over a mere Hamilton, you can still enjoy plenty of fine musical acts for free.

One last time for the stragglers:

Scheduled local bands include:
Basses Loaded,
Buxton,
Closet City,
Elaine Greer,
Electric Touch,
Estudiantes Social Club,
Generation Landslide,
Giant Battle Monster,
HISD,
JD's Throwdown,
Kam,
Karina Nistal,
Lazlo,
Literary Greats,
Mechanical Boy,
Mexican War Band,
Micah Omega,
News on the March,
Noon,
Nosaprise,
Oh Pioneers!,
Opie Hendrix,

Trust us; that’s more of an audio assault than most can handle. Take sensory overkill to the next level when local artists will take care of your visual needs. The Free Press’s GIANT invites local artists to display their works and event take part in a live painting project. Artist can have free table space just as long as they show up before 10:30 a.m.

Honestly, people. South by South-what?

Are there any plans to try and make the Fest what it once was? You know, multiple outdoor stages, shut down the street, more than one booth selling food...
