Dining Out For Life: Barnaby's

04092008_DOFL.gifNext Thursday, the 24th is "Dining Out For Life" which benefits AIDS Foundation Houston. As we've told you (and you'll be sick of us repeating ourselves by then) you dine out at a participating eaterie for breakfast and lunch and dinner (because you like food like we like food and eating and giving to the community just makes good sense) and you've donated! One of our favorite spots for lunch is Barnaby's Cafe, and damn the good luck, they're IN! We drooled when we saw them right there at the top of the list. In our little foodie world, the best chicken salad on the entire planet, or as least within the greater Harris County area, can only be found at a Barnaby's Cafe location.

The pesto chicken salad & artichoke hearts sandwich is one of the more amazing creations we've ever had. a very generous helping of chicken salad is piled onto some beautiful wheat bread with lettuce, tomato and red onion. The sandwich is sliced in half, and each half is secured with a black olive on a toothpick (we love olives, too). This is served with chips or fries, as you prefer. It's big enough for two, but, so good you may be tempted to just eat the whole thing, ah sweet misery. Oh, you'll need a knife and fork, as the salad kind of oozes out of the bread, and that is a "good" thing. Another of our most favorite menu items is the mediterranean chicken salad, Again, it's large enough for two, or take half of it home for another meal. Honestly, we have not ever had a bad meal at Barnaby's, any of the locations. If you've never been, it's a must. Barnaby's also boasts some delicious entrees and a large selection of vegetarian or meatless choices. See their menu here.
