
Heading out this afternoon for a bit of burglary and a cocktail? Learn from the mistakes of others and leave the alligator in the road. William Johnson couldn't seem to pass up the thought of being the only one on his block to have a real live reptile and a hot wide screen T.V. Actually, Johnson had two reptiles in the car if you count the water moccasin. Houstonist can only wonder how he was planning to text and drive with animals riding shot gun. Move over, Bobby Boucher. The Chron reports that the police chief chalked it up to "Just a typical day in Brazoria."
>> Hurricane Season is Coming: Hurricanes are powerful storms. Duh. However, society has taken more notice ever since the one-two punch of Katrina and Rita pounded the Gulf Coast in 2005. Everyone knows about the effects of the storms (aside from ruining lives, the storm lead to frantic evacuations and last minute "readiness" efforts. So, it never hurts to educate oneself and ones' children about hurricanes. The ABC13 Weather Blog clued us in about The Gulf Coast Hurricane Awareness Tour, which seeks to do just that. by having a hurricane hunting aircraft tour the region spreading the word about hurricanes. On a related note, the Houston area has a new top dog in meteorology. Let's hope he's no Brick.
>> Texans 2008 Schedule Announced: Astros season just got underway, and the Rockets are on the verge of the playoffs. But, pro football is making headlines as 2008 schedules were released yesterday. The Texans begin the season the road with a home opener slated against the B-more Ravens on September 14th. The home games seem ho-hum. Using last season as our guide, the only highlights in the schedule look to be visits from a couple of high profile quarterbacks. Sir Peyton brings the Colts to Reliant Stadium on October 5th. Prince Vince & The Tennessee Oilers pay a visit on December 14th. We'll have to wait until the post-season for even the slightest glimmer of seeing David Carr (now with the New York Giants) back on the field in Houston. If only he'd had an offensive line...
