Houstonist is excited about the variety of local and national acts playing this week. Tonight, you have two choices: Rock fans should check out The Monocles – the Houston band is celebrating the release of their new CD tonight at The Mink; and, over at The Duck, folk legend (20 years makes you a legend, right?) Michelle Shocked makes a long-overdue appearance.

This weekend, in addition to the music line-up at iFest, we recommend checking out Steve Earle Friday night at Verizon and Marc Broussard Saturday night at Warehouse Live. Both of them will also do free sets at Cactus Records (Steve on Thursday, Marc on Saturday). If all of the above mentioned aren’t mainstream rock enough for you, then you’ll probably be in heaven at the annual Buzzfest at The Woodlands on Saturday.
