Tony Kushner at the Alley

190508_kushner.jpgAward-winning playwright Tony Kushner will be speaking at the Alley Theatre tonight, followed by an on-stage conversation with Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd. Kushner is best known for his play Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, which follows the struggles of gay men and those around them during the mid-eighties AIDS crisis. The play won the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and has since been made into a TV miniseries and an opera. In 2004, his musical Caroline, or Change, about a black maid during the civil rights movement, was nominated for six Tony awards. Additionally, he co-wrote the screenplay of the 2005 film Munich, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. Tickets to this event are $20, and you can pick 'em up from Inprint's website.
