Dashing Dogs and Majestic Mutts

Do you have a handsome pup or a beautiful pooch that has just been waiting for their shot at fame? Or perhaps you just have an overwhelming desire to donate to a good cause while you and your four-legged friend enjoy an afternoon with like-minded dog owners?

Hotel Derek and Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) are sponsoring the first-annual Project Derek Dog event next Saturday, May 31st, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The winner of the canine competition will become the official representative for Hotel Derek's pet promotions for the next year.

Entrance fees are only $75, which includes lunch and wine at the hotel and a competition with "surprise celebrity judges." No word yet on who those celebrities might be, but don't you want to find out? The first 200 paid registrants will also receive a Doggie Gift Bag with treats and accessories valued at $50, so hurry and sign up now!

The best part is that your registration fee will go entirely to the good people at CAP, who help thousands of animals each year. CAP has an adoption rate of 47%, which is an astonishing three times higher than the national average, but which also means that their facilities have reached critical mass. The money raised from Project Derek Dog will go not only towards helping abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats, but also to help build a new shelter for CAP in west Houston.
