Aurora Picture Show presents Slant 8

300508_slant8.jpg Tonight kicks off Slant 8 at the Aurora Picture Show. Slant started up in 2000, showcasing inventive takes on Asian American life through films and performances. Their Facebook page mentions "the smashing of stereotypes, off-beat humor, family stories and a spectacular gun battle or two" as frequent subjects.

The weekend-long film festival opens tonight with eleven short experimental and narrative films. On Saturday night, television personality Nobu Adilman will host a screening of his short films and television shows. Sunday afternoon's four short films are centered on modern families and relational strains.
