Political Roadtrip: Texas State Democratic Convention

In case you somehow haven't heard, Barack Obama is going to be the Democratic nominee for president. But that doesn't mean that the 2008 electoral process is over — in fact, things are just picking up steam. So, this weekend Houstonist will be traveling to the Texas State Democratic Convention in Austin, where politicos will be caucusing for the Blue folk in the Lone Star state.

From the TDP website:

Democrats from all across Texas will come together to set the course of the Party, elect delegates to the National Convention, and formally nominate our statewide Democratic candidates.
Many representatives from the various districts in Houston will be out there, politicking for their candidate and their agendas. The Texas Democrats' website provides a link to the group that may represent you.

Want to get involved? The Texas Democratic Party is also offering updates via text message on all the "breaking news." For those of you who want to play at home, or just need a political fix, they've included some handy instructions:

During the Convention, the TDP will use text messages to provide updates, news, scheduling info and even hold a few contests. Note: only your standard text message rates will apply.

Text BLUE to 77007 or Call 214 269 4168 and enter your cell number.

Those to emerge unscathed from the pile of former delegates represent all Texas Democrats at the National Convention. Good luck to you, sirs and madams, good luck to you all.
