Houstonist is Boiling

crawfish boil

Nothing says summer time like tying a piece of ham on to a string and trying to pull a crawfish out of the ditch in front of your grandma’s house. As you know, this can be a tedious and frustrating task – sometimes taking all day to catch two or three. Put down the string and step away from the ditch. Houstonist has a better solution.

We are having a crawfish boil at Volcano!

Join Houstonist at (Under the) Volcano on Saturday, June 28th, for all you can eat crawfish. The crawfish will be boiled Louisiana style, i.e. with the seasoning actually in the water instead of sprinkled on top of the crawfish. Don’t worry about your taste buds heating up too much. You can always douse the flames with a frozen screwdriver or other Volcano creations that you fancy.

We'll also have a fresh batch of Houstonist shirts and other schwag on hand. You'll look much cooler on the stroll wearing some of our sweet threads instead of one with crawfish juice all over the front of it.

Think you can make it? Sweet. Drop us a comment and let us know.

Thank goodness for real boiled crawfish. I'm telling everyone I know about this! I hope I can snag a t-shirt before they are gone, too.

I miss crawfish that taste good!!! I'll be there and I'm telling everyone!

I'll be there sucking down frozen screwdrivers. Will someone please drive me home? =P

Dammit - I am shooting a wedding out of town that weekend... & I haven't had crawfish this season yet either! Wah!

5 pm!? I can stop by before the STP concert and get my shirt. I thought this was a steak dinner!

There had better be corn and potatoes, too!

Mmm...potatoes...mmm.

Sounds like fun... I'll spread the word. Ps. What happened to the weather being in the corner of the logo on the main page?

Of course there'll be corn and potatoes. No grits. They don't do so well in the crawfish pot.

Dood, I was cogitating makin a couple pans of garlic cheese grits. I guess the masses can do widdout.

I am NOT the masses, and I canNOT do widdout. I think as long as the grits aren't boiled along with the crawfish, we'd be good.

...then again...crawfish grits? Mmm...

Why, oh, WHY am I always out of town during Houstonist events?! Hmph!

Okay, one pan of regular, what has a little cayenne. One pan with enough somethin'somethin' to be worthy of a bug boil. They are big pans, and I'll purchase a metal sterno unit for keeping warm.

Sounds good. I need some cholesterol!

If we survive our Heights Blvd. Garage sale on Saturday we'll be there.

All you can eat mudbugs for 5 bucks? That seems like a dangerously low price. I'm marking my calendar, and beginning fasting today.

cisforcyn: It got so hot that the weather icon broke. Sorry.
