We first wrote about Glass Candy last November. If you went to the show, you probably burned a hole in the sole of your shoes when what should have been a show turned into a synth-fueled dance party.
Currently featuring both John Alexander: A Retrospective and Learning by Doing: 25 Years of the Core Program, the Museum of Fine Arts and Starbucks' Mixed Media Series is keeping with the Texas theme. The Portland-based Glass Candy has half of its roots in Houston, specifically through beatmaster Johnny Jewel, who you can compare your chopped and screwed notes with. In fact the band most recently played homage to Jewel's fascination with H-Town music with their latest interpretation of "Iko," finally to be released on 12-inch in the coming months, which samples the Geto Boys' "Mind Playing Tricks On Me".
The night will start off, though, with TFT, who we couldn't find any information for anywhere until we realized it Houston's own The F***ing Transmissions, who are followed up by Plano native and Glass Candy label mate Farah. Littered throughout the entire night will be spins from Houston's Skull Gang Disco (Juan The Terrible, PRKL8R and Bad Knives).
So put the complimentary Frappucino down and start dancing already.
