Uncle Charlie Poster Show at Sig's

UCposters.jpg

If the above posters look familiar to you and even if they don't, head over to Sig's Lagoon on Saturday, June 21st from 6 pm to 12 am at 3710 Main, for the opening of the Uncle Charlie Poster Show.

Former local musician and artist, Uncle Charlie has been cranking out these awesome posters for about 18 years. Inspired and mentored by Austin's Frank Kozik in the mid 80's, Uncle Charlie began making posters for his own band, Dresden .45. Things steamrolled after that and he began making posters for local and regional shows.

He has an amazing collection that include posters he has made for Nirvana, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ween, Weezer, The Butthole Surfers, The Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, The Beastie Boys, The Cure, The Black Crowes, The Who, James Brown and many, many more. These posters and more will be available for sale, so bring some cash or plastic and snatch some of these up.

Be sure to check out The Chronicle which has a video of Uncle Charlie setting up his show and talking about the origins of his work. Also, mad props to the Space City Rock blog for tipping us off!

Thanks for the heads up on a cool opportunity. I got some nice stuff and managed to finish all my Birthday shopping for the year.
