Former Houston Oilers kicker Tony Zendejas was arrested at his Yorba Linda home by Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives on Thursday morning for suspicion of drugging and raping a female customer at the bar inside of his own restaurant (Zendejas Mexican Restaurant) in San Dimas, California.

The 48-year old former NFL All-Pro faces felony counts for rape of an unconscious person, rape by use of drugs, sodomy by anesthesia or controlled substance, and sodomy of an unconscious victim. Zendejas left jail after posting $260,000 in bail and is due to appear in court at a yet-to-be determined date.

The official complaint states that Zendejas provided a female customer with a drink that subsequently made her groggy on January 26. The woman later awoke in a hotel room in close proximity to the restaurant and informed authorities that she had been raped. The Los Angeles County sheriff's office then began an official investigation into the matter.

Zendejas’ attorney, Timothy Younger, put forth a statement exclaiming that “Mr. Zendejas was shocked and surprised on being advised of the allegations against him. He is anxious to begin immediately defending his good name and he is very grateful and appreciative of the support he has already received from family and friends who know these allegations are simply slanderous.”

Zendejas was a placekicker for the Houston Oilers from 1985-1990.
