You Gotta Have Faith

071108_toyota.jpgHe's been covered by everyone from Limp Bizkit to Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright. His music has been the main plot point in prime-time TV shows (complete with cameo appearance). He's performed with Queen -- so well, in fact, that it made you not miss Freddy Mercury for a brief moment. He's recovered from awful plastic surgery and awkward undercover arrests for propositioning men in bathrooms. He's a survivor.

Admit it: you love George Michael. We do, too.

And here's your big chance -- finally! -- to see him live. For one night only, the Faith-ful one himself will be performing at the Toyota Center. Monday, July 14th, at 8:00 pm will mark the first time in 16 years that George Michael has performed in Houston. The last time he was here, he played Lakewood Church (a.k.a. The Summit), and times have certainly changed since then.

While we don't know the set list, we're anticipating that since the tour is to promote his new album -- TwentyFive, a chronicle of his greatest hits from the last 25 years -- that at least a few of our old favorites will be in Monday night's repertoire. That means an arena full of fans wistfully singing along to "Faith," "Freedom '90," "I Want Your Sex," "Father Figure," "Jesus To A Child," and even Wham! hits like "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" and "Careless Whisper."

Tickets start at $45 and run all the way to $145 for the really good seats. But the great thing about the Toyota Center is that there really aren't any bad seats, especially for a concert like this. Tickets can be purchased online, but hurry before all the seats are gone!

In the meantime, here's a little playlist to whet your appetite...or just bring back some memories of the good old days.
