Go Back in the Near Future: The Allen Oldies

08012008_TAO.jpgSo, while we are telling you about "free goings on" and such, there's a crazy fun one Saturday evening (we checked, re-checked and then double-checked, it's Saturday night), as The Allen Oldies take the not-so-stagelike stage at 10:00 p.m. and put a Dance Party at Shoeshine Charley's Big Top Lounge where admission is always free! Never heard of the place? First, shame on you! Second, it's down the block from the Continental Club, Sig's Lagoon and Tacos A Go-Go, which all occupy the 3700 Block of Main Street. Come on out to the coolest block in Houston and "Ride the Wild Surf" with the hottest oldies band in town, The Allen Oldies. While you're out dancing with your baby to the Hanky Panky, making googly eyes at the single men in the band or just dancing like a fool (we happen to be experts at that), be sure to peruse the merchandise because these fine musicians have some fabulous CD's (that way you can perfect your oldies moves at home, just saying).

We can advise you to clear your schedule and try to make it to the Dance Party, it's always fun, always filled with unpredictable antics (mostly from intoxicated crowd members, some have involved "new" and treacherous dance moves) and really the most fun you can have while fully-clothed and in public. It's free, so it'll cost you nothing to make a fool of yourself on the dance floor. Now, since it is free and that much entertainment, we'll offer up our usual suggestions for proper free event behavior, in no particular order of importance: purchase drinks for the band, purchase band merchandise, tip your bartender(ess) and or any wait staff that serve you and tip the band, tip the band often and once you have tipped them, buy those fine men a cocktail or beer.
