Originally slated to appear in the amphitheatre at The Orange Show Monument on April 4th of this year, Xiu Xiu is back for another go at the venue this Thursday, August 21st. We hope the rain doesn't jack it up again! Xiu Xiu (pronounced "shoe shoe") is promoting their Sixth Album "Women As Lovers" currently consists of founder Jamie Sterwart, Caralee McElroy and Ches Smith (occasionally, Cory McCulloch). Singer-songwriter Jamie Stewart is Xiu Xiu's only constant member, who pulls musical influence from several genre's from noise rock to folk, but their heavily percussive style is directly influenced by The Cure and Joy Division. Their style of experimental indie rock has drawn quite a fan-base on the West Coast and their new album is being hailed by critics as thier most accessible to date. Opening acts are Carla Bozulich's Evangelista and Common Eider, King Eider.

Odds this sells out are hella good - I'd make my online purchase pronto.
I'd agree with MJ on her assessment of those tickets for this potentially amazing event.
For those of you who might NOT be familiar with Carla Bozulich's Evangelista, feel free to read my review of her most recent album (and yes, I'm aware that I've just now shamelessly plugged myself).
