Soon, there will be one more reason to be jealous of your friends who live in Midtown (aside from easy light rail access and The Big Top): Crave Sushi.
Word from HAIF is that a new sushi restaurant is being built on Travis at Tuam, to fill the void in the underserved sushi market in Midtown. Crave Sushi is scheduled to open in December of this year, just in time for the weather to be cool enough for you to walk there after a night at the Continental Club.
After a night at a club, you ask? That's right. Crave Sushi will be open until 4:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Desperate for a spicy tuna roll or some fat, buttery hamachi sashimi at 2:00 a.m.? We've been there; don't feel alone. Crave will soon be there to answer your prayers.
It's not just a gimmicky late-night sushi place, either. The owners are bringing in the CIA-trained Robert Garay, formerly of Hyde Park in New York City, as their executive chef. His sushi (and other assorted Japanese foods) menu will be served during regular business hours until 11:00 p.m., while the sushi bar will remain open well into the night.
Crave should make an excellent addition to the Midtown restaurant scene, as long as they keep their fish high-quality and their menus creative. And Houstonist is definitely excited about the prospect of other late-night foods besides Whataburger, tacos and pizza.
Late Night Pie, you may have finally met your match!

Week Around The Ists

I'm sooo excited about this! All my late night sushi cravings have been somewhat sated by Cafe Japon, but it'll be nice to see a new place.
I hope this is good sushi. I was a little bit disappointed my late night venture to Cafe Japon to cure a sushi craving.
too bad late night pie is gone now. but i never went there anyway.
