Since there won't be any moonlight to brighten the late nights of the upcoming Labor Day Weekend, Houstonist dug up an oldie-but-goodie to provide you with The Whole of the Moon on this Friday afternoon:
We're excited about the three-day weekend, the sleeping-in mornings, the barbeques and cook-outs, the department store sales and the whole "no work" thing on Monday. And when Houstonist is excited, we like to listen to happy, upbeat songs. The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys fits that bill expertly, as well as providing an always-welcome dose of 80s nostalgia. The brightly optimistic song and its "big music sound" that defined early Waterboys' albums are the perfect note on which to start a glorious, sun-filled weekend.
Houstonist hopes you all have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend!

Missed Connections: Gefilte Fish...and "Chain Connections"

Good call!
Long live 96.5 KNRJ, where I first heard the Waterboys!
/me ambles off to now listen to Peter Godwin, Colm III, and UK Vision oldies on a Victrola cylinder phonograph machine.
One of my favorites from the 80's. I caught this video late yesterday afternoon while roaming the cable channels (VH1 Classic was doing a 4-day 80's marathon).
A music geek note: This was Karl Wallinger (keyboards/backing vocals on this song) last album with The Waterboys before he left and found even more success with his band World Party.
LOVE IT! My all time favorite is still "Fisherman's Blues".
