For the Weekend of September 11th – 14th, 2008
Good afternoon, all of you residents of the Bayou City. It’s good to see that you return to us, week after week, for your Houston-area live music needs – we appreciate being showered with all of your love and affection. And on a light weekend of shows around the town, you should all look deep within yourselves and display the same devotion you show to H-Town Rock to any and all of the local bands performing around Houston over the next few days. You love music and they love playing it – it’s a win-win for everyone. Let’s get to it!
Thursday, September 11th

A note to anyone who has an allergic reaction to the presence of smug hipsters: it still might behoove you to be in attendance at either of the Dr. Dog gigs today, since quality, trippy, psychedelic music with ‘60s pop influences really shouldn’t be missed. But if you’re still afraid of the hives that might appear when you get to close to a skinny kid in tight jeans and an American Apparel® shirt, feel free to jam out with the parents and The Eagles over at the Toyota Center or enjoy a drink with some friends over at Rudyard’s.
Dr. Dog (In-Store Appearance) at Cactus Music
Dr. Dog, The Delta Spirit, and Seth Kauffman at Walter's on Washington
Drew Smith's Lonely Choir (CD Release Show) and Dustin Welch at The Continental Club
The Eagles at Toyota Center
Hueman Group at Dean's Credit Clothing
Street Dogs, Hell City Kings, and Los Skarnales at Warehouse Live
Witchcraft, TK Webb and the Visions, and Graveyard at Rudyard's
Friday, September 12th

Well, well, well… Don’t we all just have ourselves a little predicament here? There are almost too many quality options to choose from, that it makes it difficult to limit ourselves to just one event. Honestly, H-Town Rock doesn’t feel that we need to make a decision for clear-thinking, music-loving adults on this night. Anything that any of you might choose to attend from this list will receive our whole-hearted approval. Bob’s playing at Warehouse, the show at The Mink looks awesome, and our crazy roommate will be crazier than usual over at Mechanical Boy’s CD Release Show at Fitzgerald’s. You have no excuses to not enjoy Houston music tonight – none at all.
Bob Schneider, Kanude (CD Release Show), and Jeff Boortz Band at Warehouse Live

Jeremy Nail and The Will Evans Project at Rudyard's
Kanude (In-Store Appearance) at Cactus Music
Mechanical Boy (CD Release Show), Thee Armada, The Last Place You Look, Velora, and The Tastydactyls at Fitzgerald's
Saturday, September 13th

Cactus Music has had themselves a busy last few days: Dr. Dog on Thursday, Kanude on Friday, and Richard Hopkins and Lisa Nova today. If you’re not supporting this fine Houston institution of all things regarding independent music and high-quality vinyl, then you should be ashamed of yourselves. Do everyone a favor and be there for this show (and buy some music while you’re at it). For the rest of you folks, you have other options to consider: Bob’s playing at The Duck tonight, The Mink will play hose to some excellent punk acts, and the crazy roommate will be rocking out to the jam bands over at Fitz’s. Enjoy your weekend! Houstonist certainly will.
