Jana Hunter at DiverseWorks

Sadly, due the post-Ike conditions in Houston, DiverseWorks has canceled the Jana Hunter show on Wednesday night. They apologize for the inconvenience and they do hope to reschedule the show for a later date, as it had become a rather anticipated event.

For those of you out there who have a strong hankering for some of the best lo-fi, DIY, freak-folk goodness on the planet,or if you want to partake of the music of one of Houston's own, H-Town Rock would like to really encourage you to see Jana Hunter perform at DiverseWorks ArtSpace in Houston, TX, on Wednesday, September 17th. Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez and Wicked Poseur will be opening for Jana and the all-ages show will start at 8pm with a cover charge of $7.00.

What's really nifty and keen about this event is that it marks one of Jana's first appearances back in Houston since she moved to Baltimore in 2007. Signed to Gnomonsong, the record label founded by Devendra Banhart, Jana has won over music fans far and wide with her dreamy, melancholy vocals and stunning songcraft. Our favorite memories of Jana in Houston are: a) her blissfully rambling, story-telling episode (Download it here!) on the Sugar Hill Sessions and b) when she performed a magically contrasting opening set for Danielson back in 2006 at Walter's.

And for those of you who aren't familiar with the majesty that is DiverseWorks:
"DiverseWorks is a non-profit art center dedicated to presenting new visual, performing, and literary art. DiverseWorks is a place where the process of creating art is valued and where artists can test new ideas in the public arena. By encouraging the investigation of current artistic, cultural and social issues, DiverseWorks builds, educates, and sustains audiences for contemporary art."

DiverseWorks is located at 1117 East Freeway, Houston, TX 77002, and you can call them at 713.223.8346 for more information on this show and any of their exhibits. We hope to see many of you at what should be an amazing evening with Jana & friends!
