Houstonist has been scouring the interwebs, looking for informative, interesting or just plain weird photos from during and after Hurricane Ike. Below are some of our favorites so far:

More photos...after the jump.
The Boston Globe has one of our favorite photo collections so far, which can be seen here: The Short -- But Eventful -- Life of Ike. These are gloriously high-resolution photos, which really illustrate the magnitude of the destruction, particularly in the coastal areas. Haunting and surreal.
The regulars over at the eternally popular Houston Architecture Info Forum have started a photo thread of their own here: Hurricane Ike Photo Thread. These are fascinating photos with firsthand accounts that can't be found anywhere else.
Several Flickr groups devoted to hurricane photos have popped up, but this seems to be the most thorough repository of pictures so far: Hurricane Ike 2008.
Worried about how all the pets and other animals in the area are faring? The Houston Chronicle has an excellent photo essay to answer those questions: How Animals Are Weathering Ike. Nothing like some cute dogs to cheer you up after a long day.
Do you have other Ike photos you'd like to share? Submit them to our Flickr group here: Houstonist Group Pool.

Missed Connections: November 2 - 5

The kids + dogs are precious. Good to know that someone enjoyed the hurricane! :)
Re: the miniblinds — those are from Chase Tower. I was downtown Monday morning and kept seeing those silver blinds scattered all over the place, and it took me a long time to figure out what they were. (Actually, someone else figured out what they were before I did, but I was just about to get it myself. Really.)
