Cupcakes for a Cure

You know those little pink ribbons you've been seeing everywhere lately? Well, that's because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). NBCAM is not only a means of raising money to find a cure for breast cancer, but also a reminder to pay attention to your own breast health (if you're a woman) and to make sure the women in your life are paying attention to their breast health, too.

To assist in this noble cause, CRAVE Cupcakes (which was recently named as Houston's Best Bakery by the Houston Press) has put together some limited edition "CRAVE-ing a Cure" gift boxes, which are sure to put a smile on your face. The gift boxes contain six of CRAVE's famous cupcakes -- two each of dark chocolate, vanilla and strawberry -- that are decorated with the ubiquitous pink ribbon.

CRAVE's cupcakes aren't just good because they're cute, though. Their cupcakes are made with both local and specially-sourced ingredients, without preservatives or any other added nasties, and are baked fresh throughout the day. The sweet strawberry cupcakes, in particular, are Houstonist's favorite and their cheerful pink color is particularly fitting for these gift boxes.

But the best part of CRAVE's gift boxes isn't just their contents. It's the fact that 100% of the proceeds go to the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at Baylor College of Medicine. The Breast Center's mission is two-fold: they provide care and treatment for breast cancer patients while also carrying out internationally-recognized cancer research.

The cost of each "CRAVE-ing a Cure" gift box is $19.95, but can only be obtained by placing an order either in person at the store in Uptown Park or by phone at 713.622.7283. The boxes will be available from October 1st through October 11th, so go ahead and place your order now!
