Rosenfels, Texans Drop Heartbreaker

This has to be the biggest loss in Texans history. Sage Rosenfels made an emergency start today because Matt Schaub was hospitalized overnight because of a viral infection. Rosenfels had his chance to shine and maybe even take over the quarterback position because of Schaub's mediocre start to the season.

Rosenfels was amazing for 55 minutes, but then then the wheels fell off. Rosenfels made three blunder plays that cost the Houston Texans (0-4) their first victory. With a 27-10 lead less than five minutes left to play, the Indianapolis Colts (2-2), lead by Peyton Manning scored 21 points in 2:10.

The first blunder Rosenfels did is when he refused to slide and decided to go airborne over the defense which caused him to fumble when he was hit. Linebacker Gary Brackett then picked up the loose ball and trucked it 68-yards for the touchdown to make it 27-24 with 3:38 left.

With a three point lead and the game winding down, all the Texans had to do was kill the clock, but on a pass play, Rosenfels rolled out to his left and Robert Mathis knocked the ball out of his hand and Colts recovered in prime territory and taking over on the Texans' 19-yard line with 2:44 left.

Manning and the Colts offense would take the lead with 1:54 left as Reggie Wayne made a spectacular circus-style five-yard touchdown catch to put his team ahead 31-27.

The Texans had a final chance to get the win with 1:47 left, but Rosenfels threw a game ending interception and the Colts ran out the clock for the shocking come from behind win.

Texans fans were in disbelief after today's game. Longtime season ticket holder Erik Romo stated, "It was horrible, embarrassing. He (Rosenfels) was great into the end, but you can't obviously blame it all on him."

The Texans were lead today by Andre Johnson who had nine catches for 131 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Steve Slaton was solid too. He had 16 rushes for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
