Friday Afternoon Video

Most of our recent Friday Afternoon Videos have been blasts from your 1980s past. Today, we're going even further back to a time when music was still a pure and sacred pursuit, a time when musicians -- in the words of Lester Bangs -- had "the courage to be drunken buffoons, which made them poetic."

Elton John and Bernie Taupin set a bar in the 1970s with their vivacious, dynamic and hypercreative songs that's mostly remained unmet to this day. John's intricate melodies and unmatched piano playing -- which is both elegant and frenetic -- has influenced countless musicians and acts from Rufus Wainwright to Radiohead.

Today's video is our favorite Elton John song, Tiny Dancer. Upbeat yet bittersweet, albeit in a bizarrely comforting way, sit back and let Sir Elton and Tiny Dancer sing you into the beautiful weekend ahead. And, yes; you're welcome to sing along.

And if you're still up for more, there's a special treat for you after the jump...

Ben Folds, who played with the Houston Symphony not long ago, features his interpretation of Tiny Dancer, complete with fancy glasses:

Have an amazing weekend, folks.
