Houstonist Bartender: Headless Horseman

Happy Halloween! Here at Houstonist, every day is Halloween (but, we don't play the Ministry song over and over) this cocktail is sure to be a smash at your Halloween Soiree, just don't get smashed, as we tell you, ad nauseum. You know our tired old line about not being a dumbass - and it's Halloween, so, that goes "double so". If you haven't purchased candy for the little goblins, it's likely on sale, just saying. Anyway, mix up a few of these, try not to give the cute little kiddo's a total fright - their parents kinda know where you live, and who hands out the half price marshmallow pumpkins.

The Headless Horseman

2 oz. black vodka - or regular, clear (not nearly as fun, though)
3 dashes bitters
Ginger ale

Pour the vodka and bitters into a Collins glass. Fill the glass with ice, then pour in ginger ale.
Garnish with a slice of blood orange. These would look cute with some orange or black dusting sugar rims, too (nope, not dressing up as Martha, heck, we can't even knit).

Be safe, have fun and post your costume pictures to flickr.
