The Johnny Romano Skate Jam

It's here and it's happening today! The Johnny Romano Skate Jam is skateboarding's largest charity event and this year the event formerly known as the Texas Skate Jam has been renamed in honor of Johnny Romano, a die-hard skater and surfer who passed away in September.

Johnny died of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) which is a cancer of the white blood cells. His story can be read on his website and on his family's blog.

The Johnny Romano Skate Jam will be held at SouthSide Skate Park from noon to 6pm today. Tickets are $40 and one hundred percent of the proceeds go to the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation.

So come on out, support a great cause, see some great skating and maybe get some freebies!
