Houstonist Was There: Flavor Tripping at The Social

As promised, Houstonist mingled with about 275 intrepid people who came out to experience their first Flavor Tripping party on Friday night at The Social. And although the lines were sometimes long to get in and to get at the food, people had a wonderful time tripping the night away.

Favorite comments overheard by Houstonist included, "I can't believe I just ate nine whole lemons... My stomach is going to hate me later." and "You ate the entire packet of tablets?" While the entrance fee included one Miracle Berry, the Houston Chowhounds were also selling Miracle Berry tablets on Friday night, 100% of the proceeds from which went to the James and Katharine Koonce Fund. The tablets -- which are a concentrated form of the Miracle Berry -- sold like hotcakes, and many people used the tablets in conjunction with their berries to prolong the tripping experience.

The spread of food on Friday included hummus (Houstonist's favorite; tasted like butter), tzatziki sauce, salt & vinegar potato chips, several kinds of vinegar, pickled jalapenos, grapefruit, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, lemons, limes, pomegranate seeds, Sour Patch Kids, pita chips, hot mustard, brie and goat cheese.

Missed out on this party? Then make sure to get your tickets now for the next Flavor Tripping party coming up on November 23rd, also at The Social. We'll see you there!
