H-Town Rock

For the Weekend of November 27th-30th

Honestly, Thanksgiving is H-Town Rock’s favorite out of all the major American holidays, mostly because we’re tremendous gluttons who love to gorge ourselves on all manner of culinary deliciousness. From the turkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes, to the wide varieties of vegetable dishes (whether lightly steamed or drenched in butter) and our Grandmother’s pumpkin pie (as prepared by our mother), this day is about feeding and feeding somemore. Granted, we do enjoy spending a nice, relaxing day with our family, including yelling at the football games on the television with our brothers (did you know that H-Town Rock had two other brothers besides his nouveaux kicker one?), but it’s the food that consistently makes us happy. Thus, if possible, we would like to encourage our eleven (twelve?) readers to find some family members and/or close friends this Thursday and be thankful for something, even if it is simply the privilege of being able to eat like Henry VIII for a day.

LittleJoy.jpgHonestly, we hope that anyone who’s actually crazy enough to attempt to shop on “Black Friday” finds time in the evening to do something besides stand in line to purchase Wii Fit or the High School Musical 3 Soundtrack for your prepubescent niece. The weather is supposed to be quite pleasant and there is some good music around town on this night; however, if you feel it necessary to stay home for the night and drink yourself to sleep after fighting crowds all day, then we’ll understand. But this is your one free pass! For those of you who choose to spend this day sleeping off your turkey overdose, you are hereby obliged – nay, ordered – to go somewhere this evening and dance off those extra calories. You’re more than welcome to join us at Warehouse Live for The TonTons and Little Joy.

Band of Heathens at McGonigel's Mucky Duck
Carolyn Wonderland and Bob Showdown at Dan Electro's Guitar Bar

Saturday, November 29th
RiffTiffs.jpgAre you still shopping? Really? Are those sales really that extraordinary that you feel the need to fight your way around the mall of your choosing for a second day? Personally, we expect the car and foot traffic at The Galleria to be completely oppressive and claustrophobia-inducing, but we also realize that such a statement isn’t too tremendous of a prediction on our parts. So, once again, do yourselves a favor and relax with some music this evening, since you’re going to want to purge tacky renditions of Christmas music from your head after being subjected to it all day long. We suggest Walter’s!

Arc Angels and Electric Touch at House of Blues
Misfits, Shit City High, Focusyn, and X-Pats at The Meridian
The Riff Tiffs, The Eastern Sea, Piano Vines, Earnie Banks, and The McKenzies at Walter's on Washington
Shit City High at Cactus Music

Sunday, November 30th
