For the second time since John F. Kennedy was in office, the Rice Owls are bowl bound and this year they will travel a mere three miles to Reliant Stadium as they await to find out who their opponent will be at this year's Texas Bowl which will be played on December 30 at 7 p.m.

Rice, who is coming off a convincing 56-42 win over rival UH, features and explosive offense which is fifth in the nation in passing and C-USA record setting receiver James Casey who has 104 receptions to along with 1,217 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Casey will be joined by fellow teammates Chase Clement and Jarrett Dillard who set the all-time NCAA touchdown record from quarterback to wide receiver back in September at 41. So whoever their opponent is, they will their hands full trying to stop the Owls' potent trio.

As Rice awaits their opponent to be named, Notre Dame could be a possibility and despite the Irsih's 6-6 record, there is no doubt Reliant would be a sell out because of the Irish's nationwide following. UH and TCU had a paid attendance of 62,097 at last year's Texas Bowl.

Notes: The Owls and head coach David Baliff will be looking for Rice's first bowl win since the 1953 Cotton Bowl.
