Houston, Air Force Set for Armed Forces Bowl

uhbowl.jpgHouston, here we go again. It's UH v. Air Force for the second time this year except it will be played in Ft. Worth instead of Dallas.

In the first meeting, a 31-28 Air Force win, was supposed to be played at Robertson Stadium but it was moved at the last minute to Gerald J. Ford Stadium on SMU's campus because of Hurricane Ike.

Now, the Houston team will be looking for a bit of revenge as the Cougars and head coach Kevin Sumlin will be looking to bring a bowl win back to the Bayou City since the 1980 Garden State Bowl.

"For us, none of our players were even born when UH had its last bowl win," said Sumlin. "Each team is different and for our seniors that is important. Our legacy is important and our seniors still have something to accomplish. If there is something for them to accomplish and be known for, it is as a group to start a few things, like ending the bowl drought and going undefeated at home."

UH's Case Keenum, the nation's leading passer with 4,768 yards, will be looking for a bit of personal goals as he seeks a bowl win. Keenum has 5,000 passing yards on his radar and the UH single-season passing record which is 5,140 yards set by David Klingler in 1990.

And more importantly, our own Rice Owls will be playing IN HOUSTON at Reliant Stadium for the Texas Bowl.

Go Owls!

Yes, there is nothing like playing a bowl game in your own city.
