Billy D. Washington is performing this weekend, starting tonight at The Laff Stop.
Who is Billy D. Washington?
Well, for starters, he's a homeboy, a local Houstonian who used to be a Houston police officer. After spending a few years on the force, Billy embarked on a journey into the entertainment industry that found him writing songs, parodies, poetry as well as his mastering his mainstay, his comedy routine.
Billy got a break in 2003 after he opened for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. She loved his act so much, she hired him to open for her for the next three years!
He is currently working on a film, "Bob- The Urban Legend of Comedy" and has secured his first international distribution deal.
Billy's list of accomplishments looks something like this: He's been featured on The Bob and Tom show (nationally syndicated), HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival and Def Comedy Jam, The Montreal Comedy Festival, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, BET’s ComicView, the HBO Def Comedy Jam, and most recently the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Last Comic Standing (2007-08). Don't forget to chalk up his hundreds of appearances in comedy clubs and corporate events across the states.
