In addition to having a lower homicide rate in 2008, Houston has yet another reason to celebrate: we're no longer in the state with the largest number of knocked-up teenagers! Texas once led the nation in the number of pregnant minors, but now that discouraging title has passed to Mississippi. The Magnolia State led the nation with a stunning and unprecendented 60% higher rate of pregnant teens than the national average, while Texas and New Mexico stood at a solid yet regrettable 50%. Now if we could just get that whole "worst city in the nation for recycling due to damnable stubborn streak" monkey off our backs
