I could not agree with you more Maren, I have been saying for years that Tillman Fertitta and his money were going to turn Galveston into and amusement park.

As a "BOI" born on the island, it rips at my heart to see the destruction Ike did to Galveston. However I know that the true diehard Galvestonians will pull themselves up by the boot straps and continue on. Yes it will be hard, but it has happened before and it can be done again.

God Bless all of you in Galveston we are praying for you!

I grew up in Galveston, and it's been a worry of some locals for awhile that Fertitta would try and make it into a "Fertitta-land" a la Kemah for some time.

Legalizing gambling would do nothing for Galveston to maintain any sense of being a city rather than become just a tourist trap.

Galvestonians are a resilient lot, and I can only hope that they receive the funding needed to at least help keep the city government running and UTMB open to it's former capacity.
