Concert Preview: Scott Weiland

scott_weiland.jpg To say Scott Weiland has lived a trouble-free life is like saying Pee Wee Herman has never seen the inside of an adult theater. The former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver leader is no stranger to county-issued orange uniforms and Betty Ford clinics. He’s still on the road to recovery, and is currently on tour promoting his second solo album, “Happy” in Galoshes.

Scott is responsible for writing some of the most memorable alt-rock songs in the 90’s with STP - “Plush,” “Sex Type Thing,” “Interstate Love Song,” “Trippin’ On a Hole in a Paper Heart.” In this decade, he showed that he could bounce back with Velvet Revolver (“Slither” and “Fall to Pieces”). There are now rumors of a new STP album after his solo tour stint.

In the meantime, we’re giving you a chance to get your hands on a pair of tickets to see Scott at Warehouse Live this Saturday night, playing songs from his new solo album and favorites from his two previous bands. If you’re interested in going, send an e-mail to contest (at) houstonist (dot) com and include your name and phone number. We’ll pick the winner tomorrow (Thursday) at noon.
