Houstonist was in attendance Thursday night at the Hilton America's Hotel for the Baseball Writers Association of America Awards Dinner and the following players were honored:
- Lance Berkman was named Astros Team MVP.
- Pitcher Wesley Wright was named Astros Rookie of the Year.
- Hunter Pence was named Daryl Kyle Award winner for his public service time off the field.
- Jose Valverde was named Astros Pitcher of the Year.
- Dodgers firstbaseman and Elkins High school graduate James Loney was named Greater Houston Area MLB Player of the Year.
- Rice pitcher Ryan Berry was named Preseason College Player of the Year.
- Jose Cruz was honored with the Allen Russell Distinguished Achievement Award.
