• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Second Annual New Year's Writing Marathon, Freed-Montrose Library, 4100 Montrose
• 10 a.m. to 4 -.m. — Wings & Wheels: Cessna Day at 1940 Air Terminal Museum, including lunch! Hobby Airport, 8325 Travelair Rd, 77061
• 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. — Change That You Can Dance To: Obama Music Videos, The Station Museum, 1502 Alabama

Sunday, Jan. 18
• 7 a.m. to ? — Handing out beer to runners at Mile 24 of the Chevron Houston Marathon, Allen Parkway at Taft
• 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. — Watching the AFC and NFC Championship games
• 3 p.m. — Watching the TonTons perform at The Coffee Groundz, 2503 Bagby, 77006

All Weekend
• Seeing the surreal Max Ernst exhibit at the Menil, 1515 Sul Ross
• Seeing singers at The Sounds I See: Photographs of Musicians before it closes on Monday, at the MFAH, 1001 Bissonnet Street, 77005
• Ice skating at Discovery Green before the ice rink closes on Monday, 1500 McKinney, 77010
• Viewing the winners of the C.A.M.E.O. Teapot Tournament, 1701 Dunlavy, 77006. Yes, there really is such a thing.
• Oogling the works of Linda Christianson at 18 Hands Gallery, 249 W 19th St, 77008
