A double shot for today's Daily-ist. Head over to the Rothko Chapel for a gospel musical performance honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., then cruise by Pictures Plus Gallery to see Houston sculptor David Addicks unveil the newest addition to his Presidential head sculptures, that of Barack Obama, who tomorrow will be inaugurated as our country's 44th President.

The Jones Family Singers, three generations of gospel musicians from Bay City, will perform contemporary gospel music at the Rothko Chapel. The group has sung previously at the Austin City Limits Festival, on B.E.T and throughout the United States. The event is free but a donation of $5 is suggested. The performance starts at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a meet-and-greet and reception. The Rothko Chapel is small, so seating is limited to first-come-first-served.

::David Adickes' 82nd Birthday Celebration::

Houston sculptor David Addicks, whose warehouse just north of Washington and South of the Heights' Target houses a collection of giant President heads and Yellow Submarine-era likenesses of the Beatles with their instruments, will celebrate his 82nd birthday tonight with the unveiling of his latest sculpture, the larger-than-life bust of soon-to-be-inaugurated Barack Obama.

Addicks, whose other sculptures can be seen around town, including The Virtuoso in the downtown theater district and giant Sam Houston just north of Houston on I-45, will also display a collection of abstract art works that have never before been seen publicly.
