Located in northwest Houston where Hempstead Highway, 610 and 290 converge, Northwest Mall was opened in the 1960's. The building's architecture definitely reflects the times in which it was built. The mall still operates today, but at a much reduced occupancy rate. Macy's, one anchor store of the mall, has been closed since Hurricane Ike with a possible re-opening in July 2009.
