Vallone nixes wine bar at River Oaks Shopping Center

Rendering of the rebuilt section of the River Oaks Shopping Center
After the ignorance about their property setbacks, easily receiving a retroactive variance request for it, and then making a few changes to appease residents, there won't be a wine bar at the new end of the River Oaks Shopping Center after all.

Houston restaurateur Tony Vallone said that due to the economy he's holding back on plans to open the bar on the northwest end of the shopping center that is currently being rebuilt. Unfortunately, landing a high-dollar tenant in a rebuilt shopping center with really high rents will be difficult. Maybe in these hard times Weingarten can cut a deal and bring back the Black Eyed Pea? Or maybe Three Brothers Bakery?

Awesome, maybe they can put in a slider or burger joint there!?!?! Houston, definitely needs more burger joints!

slider demand quota is rising rapidly!!!

Sliders? Psh. What that corner really needs is another starbucks.

Instead of sliders, how about a giant public slide there? That would be so fun! (But it still wouldn't be enough to make me like Weingarten.)
