And speaking of UH basketball, Olajuwon or Drexler don't compare to what Elvin Hayes did while he was there. 31 PPG, '68 National Player of the Year and three straight Final Four appearances.

Yeah, I think you're right. I was using Hakeem as a yardstick, nobody really compares. He wasn't a very good coach at UH though.

Drexler is hands down a Houston legend. Played high school at Sterling, played at UH put them back on the national scene. Came back home and won a championship with the Rockets. An NBA All-Star for many years and a Hall of Famer.

Although Drexler is a UH Phi Slamma Jamma alum and he won a championship with the Rockets, I'm not sure he counts as a Houston legend. He's significant of course, but him being a legend is debatable. Honestly, I prefer Matt Bullard.
