Daily-ist: Kingdom of Heaven at the MFAH

022309_kingdomofheaven.jpg Houstonist loves the Movies Houstonians Love series at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Of course we enjoy the wonderful classics of cinema that have been picked for the series, but we also love the chance to hear local heroes expound on their personal tastes when it comes to film. Previous presenters have included Project Runway Season One winner Chloe Dao, Barbara Bush and Bun B.

Tonight's film, Kingdom of Heaven will be introduced by Jim Hackett, CEO of Houston's Anadarko Petroleum, one of the largest independent oil and gas companies in the world.

Kingdom of Heaven is Ridley Scott's 2005 film chronicling the Crusades as a background for the current relationship between Muslims and Christians. Think Gladiator but set in 12th Century Jerusalem. Despite his notoriety as an action director, Variety has called the movie "historically quite respectable," although historians have criticized the accuracy of the film. The movie stars, among others, Liam Neeson, Orlando Bloom and Edward Norton.
