Daily-ist Thursday: The Poison Pen

poisongirl1.jpg The Montrose's favorite hipster hangout is getting all arty-farty on us these days. First they were slingin' classic cocktails with the help of celebrity bartenders Bobby Heugel and Kevin Floyd, and now they're taking on literature.

Poetry, to be exact.

Tonight the bar will play host to two established poets who will reading from their collections of work.

Joshua Beckman, who lives in both Brooklyn and Seattle, is the author of four previous collections of poetry, including Shake (Wave Books, 2006), two collections of collaborative work, and numerous translations.

Barbara Hamby teaches creative writing in the English Department at Florida State University. Her books include The Alphabet of Desire, Babel, All-Night Lingo Tango, Babel, and Delirium.

The event begins at 8:30 p.m. and there will be an intermission during which you can get another tipple of whiskey. Or whatever it is starving writers are drinking these days.
