BREAKING NEWS: Astros Ink Pudge

pudge.jpg The Houston Astros have signed 14-time All-Star catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Last year while splitting time between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees, Rodriguez batted .267 with seven home runs and 35 RBI.

Currently, Rodriguez is playing for Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic where he's hitting .600 (9-for-15) with two home runs.

Rodriguez gives the Astros a legitimate catcher behind the plate and offensively as well. The catcher position has been a week position for quite some time.

After years of watching Ausmus struggle to lift a ball out of the infield, Rodriguez will definitely be a fresh breath of air at Minute Maid Park this summer.
