H-Town Rock

For the Week of March 16th - 18th, 2009

Holy Weekday Batman! Houston hasn't seen the first three days of its week filled with this much great music in awhile. Tuesday's lineup, what with The Antlers, Beach House, Jana Hunter, Deer Tick, Wintersleep, and Tricky all playing shows around town, looks especially difficult for the average person to decide where they should be for the evening. The simple answer is that SXSW is this week, and a great many bands will be playing our fair city on their way to play even more shows in Austin, TX. H-Town Rock isn't sure which other Texas city Houstonians revile more: Dallas and its moneyed snobs or Austin and its hippies (but our bet's on Dallas). Nevertheless, who cares where these bands are headed after Houston - it's our job to show these musicians that we are a great music city and that they should return to play here often. Moreover, it is our obligation as music-loving residents of Houston, TX to dispel any rumors that might exist about the status of music and music venues in our town. Let's get out there and show these bands a great time!
