Weekend-ist March 20-22: Bikes, Babes on Boards and BLP TV

032009_derby.jpg It's the final weekend of the rodeo, so if you haven't had enough parking woes, fried food or sweaty crowds get your starched little heinie down to Reliant for your last chance.

For today's Weekend-ist, Houstonist took our "What are you doing?" question to the mean streets of Twitter. Followers' replies are mixed in with our own recommendations below.

UPDATED: Doh! Commenter monkeypanda points out that the Tour de Houston is actually on Sunday this year, for the first time since its inception. If you're riding, keep this in mind: Houstonist has heard it's bad form to pass the mayor.

FRIDAY

SATURDAY

  • 8 a.m. to noon — Babes on Boards clinic and demo for female skateboarders. At Jamail Skate Park, 103 Sabine (parking at Fonde Rec Center). Free, but a helmet is required. If you have your own board, bring it, but if you don't, come anyway.

HRD tickets are $15 at the door, $12 presale. The afterparty is at Kicks (bonus) and the beers should be cheaper now that the venue is no longer the Verizon!!! This months charity is Aids Foundation of Houston.
