ABC World News Airing Tonight and Tomorrow from Houston

032309_cgibson.jpg Tune in to ABC (KTRK-TV Channel 13 in Houston) this evening, March 23rd, and tomorrow evening, March 24th, at 5:30pm to catch “World News with Charles Gibson” airing from Houston.

Gibson’s stop in Houston is part of a series examining first-hand how the economic crisis is affecting different areas of the country. On March 23rd and 24th, “World News” will originate from Houston, which has been relatively well-insulated from the economic downturn. Gibson will look at why the city and Texas overall has been one of the last regions to feel the painful effects of the recession, with many people actually flocking to the state in search of job opportunities.

He will also get an inside look at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, which is in the midst of overseeing the Space Shuttle Discovery’s latest mission to the International Space Station. On Tuesday evening, Gibson will interview Apollo astronauts Captain Alan L. Bean, Captain Gene Cernan, Captain James A. Lovell, Jr., and Colonel Buzz Aldrin, part of “An Evening with Texas Legends” benefitting the Texas Children’s Cancer Center. The event will celebrate the Apollo Program and the upcoming 40th anniversary of man’s landing on the moon.

Additionally, Gibson will anchor special coverage from Houston of President Obama’s press conference beginning at 7:00pm tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24th also on ABC. He will be joined by Chief Washington Correspondent and host of “This Week” George Stephanopoulos and Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper.
