A nice, subdued weekend ahead after the bustle of last week.
FRIDAY
- 7:05 p.m. — Astros vs. Cleveland at the Juice Box. Tough Opening Day isn't until Monday, this exhibition game will be the first of '09 to be played at Minute Maid. There's a game Saturday at 1:05 p.m. too.
- 9 p.m. — The World by Road Welcome Home Party, Bronx Bar Galleria, 2670 Sage Rd. A bunch of crazy people spent the last two years circumnavigating the globe via vehicle. They've finished their journey here in Houston and will be showing photos and videos of their trips as well as speaking about their travels tonight. The event is free, there will be drink specials.
SATURDAY
- 2 to 8 p.m. — Houston Roller Derby Crawfish Boil at West Alabama Ice House, featuring a silent auction, live music, and a derby girl dunking booth. Proceeds go towards safety gear and more for the roller girls, who don't get paid to play.
- 2 to 9 p.m. — Inner Art Corridor Studio Tour, a gathering of artists with studios along Washington and Houston Avenue. Free.
SUNDAY
- DIY Downtown Art Deco Walking Tour. Enjoy the mild weather while it lasts by taking yourself on a walking tour of Downtown's notable deco buildings in this walking tour compiled by the Rice Design Alliance.
