Ernie’s On Banks, We Believe You Now

Photo courtesy of Ernie's On Banks website. (Does anyone else not believe this photo was actually taken at Ernie's? Or any place that remotely resembles Ernie's? Ernie's, we would never think of challenging your obvious level of sophistication, but seriously...toasting at sunset? wearing collared shirts? sweater vests?!? Oh no my dear E's on B's, this is just not you.
For anyone who hasn’t noticed yet, everyone’s favorite no-frills Museum District bar has added a huge back patio.

We saw this announcement in the Houston Press mention of 2008 Halloween parties, but refused to believe this had come into fruition. We could imagine how this has been easily overlooked because the signage is not exactly prominent. (It consists of a piece of paper with the word “Deck” and an arrow taped to the door behind the downstairs bar.)

Upon watching the Astros open the season with their usual hitting gusto, we were pleasantly surprised to meander outside to the 2,000 plus square foot deck. The deck is complete with plenty of seating, a grill, and a built in bean-bag toss game.

Check it out during our few days of what the rest of the country refers to as “spring.”

(Thank you Ernie’s. We would have loved you just the same, but we are impressed. )

Isn't that fellow on the right in the photo our own Mark Rudkin?

hasn't Ernie's always had an outdoor deck? is this a new addition or what? (of course, i live in Boston now, and my old apartment building on San Jacinto is now a light rail stop, so I'm going to have to miss out on all the sweater vests.)
