- 20th Century Modern Market at Lawndale Arts Center. See furniture and art from the height of form vs. function, maybe even buy some. The market is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and entry is $5.
- Spring Crawfish Festival featuring three stages of music and a fair-like atmosphere. Tickets for $10, available online.
Saturday
- 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. — Menil Arts Community Open House, a full day of classes, performances and exhibitions but members of the Menil Campus, including The Menil Collection, Da Camera, Inprint, Aurora Picture Show, Houston Center for Photography, SWAMP, the Watercolor Arts Society, Cinema Arts Society and Writers in the Schools and more. At 8 p.m. there will be a screening of short films funded by the Austin Film Society’s Texas Filmmakers Production Fund and sponsored by Aurora. Free and kid-friendly.
- 1 p.m. — Ceremony to rename the Galveston skate park to The Johnny Romano Skatepark. Pro and amateur demos will follow, and FuelTV will be there to film. Free.
- 3 p.m. — Musician Diane Birch will be performing an early set at Coffee Groundz before her evening show opening for James Morrison at Warehouse Live. She's like Carly Simon minus Carol King plus Joni Mitchell. Free, 2503 Bagby St.
Sunday
- Chicha Libre at the Continental Club. Psychedelic sounds of surf guitars, farfisa organs and moog synthesizers paired with inspiration from Peruvian, Columbian and Cuban folk music. Just listen to their website. Tickets $10. Show starts at 9 p.m.
